Running time: about 1 h 33 min including an intermission (estimate from the works' usual timings)

Worth the drive: A piano suite inspired by an art exhibit, most often heard in Ravel's dazzling orchestral arrangement, walking listeners through a gallery of vivid musical "paintings." The suite opens with "Promenade," a broad, unhurried theme representing the composer strolling through the gallery, its irregular footsteps returning between pictures as a musical thread tying the whole work together.
